Hospice of Orleans offers support and counseling to anyone who has experienced a recent loss – regardless of any prior affiliation with hospice. Our specially trained bereavement counselors offer support for thirteen months after a loss, or as long as needed.
The service also includes personal visits, phone calls, and emails for continual, continuous support.
Grief Support Meetings - In-office meetings are currently cancelled due to COVID-19
In addition to personalized one-on-one grief counseling, Hospice of Orleans also promotes face-to-face social support to give those who have experienced a loss the opportunity to lean on each other for comfort during a shared experience.
Bereavement Support meetings are offered every Thursday night at 6:30 pm at our office on West Avenue in Albion. These meetings are open to anyone in the community as well as to all of our Hospice families. Although registration is not required, please call ahead in case of inclement weather or scheduling conflicts to be sure the group will be meeting. 589-0809.
We also offer a Children’s Bereavement Group for any child or teen who has suffered a loss.
Don’t be afraid to reach out: everyone copes differently with grief and emotional pain. Our Bereavement Team, consisting of Linda Haight and Sister Dolores O'Dowd, are here to help. Please call us at (585) 589-0809 if you would like more information on any of these programs, or if you know someone who would benefit.
